Awning Studies: Florida Ave
Washington DC

2011
****Funded by a DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Grant, featured partnerships with four private business owners**

This ongoing series of interventions foreground the awning as the vernacular architectural ornament of note in the northeastern United States. By removing the primary functionality of the awning-protection from the elements-I advocate for the form’s demonstration of limnality and communal leisure space, specifically in relationship to sites of development and change within the urban context.
